We visited the zoo in Leipzig in April and I was lucky enough to see a good selection of DSLR´s.

We also got to see some animals and I was lucky enough to capture these two rhinos kissing...

Joys of travelling

On the return flight from Frankfurt to Berlin I made it to the airport with some extra time so I went to one of the desks to ask if I could be changed to an earlier flight. They told me it was actually possible but I would have to pay around 200 euros extra, which for one hour saving I thought it was excessive. Nonetheless I could not help thinking of Easyjet and how they handed a similar request recently.

Some queuing, patient waiting and 90 pages later on the book I was lucky to have with me, it was announced that the flight had been delayed by circa one hour (big sigh, these things seem to happen from time to time, for example in the inbound flight on Sunday night) and to top up the night, all we received for the announced dinner was an orange juice (not exactly what I expect when I read Imbiss on board on the travelling reservation).

And finally, to round everything up, by the time we made it to Tegel Airport all taxis were already gone, so instead of a line of taxis, there was a line of worried-looking fellow passengers wondering how to get home. I guess these things belong together with the joy of travelling.

I spent the first half of the week on a training course in Frankfurt. On Tuesday I went to down town Frankfurt to take a few shots, but whether it was my tiredness or the place, I didn´t really get to like it much.

I like the last ones because, although it was already quite late, there was always the odd window still with light...

LLuvia

It started raining after lunch and, for a few minutes, there was also some sun. Good moment to take a few shots of the flowers my wife has been planting lately in the balcony.

Primos

Taking a good shot from a small fidgety child is quite difficult, even more if it is two of them and from three, it rather looks like an impossible task. Unless they do not face the camera...

Tomorrow ten years ago I left from Spain, initially for a few months and eventually as an open end trip. Afterwards I only came back for the military service and, of course, to visit my family or just for holidays. I can honestly say that I have spent my fair share supporting the industry that feeds me.

I had a quick look at the agenda from 98 to see what I was doing the week before I left. Actually quite a lot. A couple of exams (Macroeconomy and Helicopter Design), saying goodbye to some close friends and starting to pack at midnight before the flight in the morning. Some things have changed, others not that much. I flew from Barajas to Heathrow, then on the subway to St Pancras, on the train to Bedford and with the bus to Cranfield University (not the best choice but I didn´t know better at the time).

And just by chance, tomorrow I will arrive at Spain to spend some days with my family. Looks like a circle closing and damm they´ve been good these ten years.
